I have illustrated poetry and quotes in a variety of styles and using a range of media and keep a ‘quote book’ where I note down ideas for more… so watch this space!
I wrote the three animal limericks at the bottom a few years ago in response to requests from my sons but only illustrated them this year. I still have a stack more limericks to illustrate and will be working my way through the collection in the coming months.
I like to experiment with shapes and to focus on details. Many of the pieces in this section are complex patterns contained within simple forms.
The ‘sweethearts’ are hand drawn hearts made of flowers, biscuits and sweets. I wanted to create pieces using some of the things I love and a heart shape seemed appropriate. They are available as mounted prints in my online shop.
Stars are a favourite shape of mine and I enjoy playing with different styles and mediums within and around them. ‘Shine Like a Star’ is available here as a mounted print.
Leaves – well, they’re beautiful by nature and I find their skeletal structure very compelling!
As for the cakes at the bottom… they were delicious.
In 2017 I set myself the task of drawing 100 tiny pictures in 100 days… and I (just about) managed it! They each took anything from 15 minutes to 2 hours to draw and some were less than 2cm in diameter. For example, the boat here is a teeny 1.8cm from prow to stern.
Mounted prints of the miniature animals are available in the shop section of this site.
